History
In 1895, David H. Quiring, Sr.'s uncle started the Quiring Monument Co.
in Wichita, Kansas. As an apprentice stonecutter in 1925, Dave began
to learn the trade of designing and carving cemetery monuments. He
continued in his uncle's footsteps and after traveling to Seattle, he
established Quiring & Briggs Monument Co. in 1949. The name was changed
to Quiring Monuments in 1952 after Dave bought out his partner Mr.
Briggs. Today, the company still operates at its original location on
Highway 99 in North Seattle.
After his father's death in 1969, David Quiring, Jr. took over as
President and today the fourth generation of the Quiring family is now
actively involved in the business of memorialization. And today, after
110 years, the Quiring family tradition of Guaranteed Quality and
Superior Service still continues throughout the company!
Through David Jr., the company actively pursued wholesale relationships
with cemeteries and participated in several industry organizations
making its mark and earning prestige as one of the most respected
creators of cemetery memorials in the country. The following years saw
the company grow to be the largest monument company in the Northwest and
one of the largest in North America. Today Quiring Monuments has over
45 employees with over 300 years of combined experience in the field of
memorialization. Creating "Meaningful Memorials" is still our passion
and our only business.
Because of our leadership in the memorial industry Quiring Monuments has
been featured in Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, on the Paul
Harvey show, in all leading cemetery and funeral industry magazines, on
ABC, CBS, and NBC television stations and featured as an industry leader
on the History Channel's program "Modern Marvels-Cemeteries". Quiring
Monuments also won the Seattle Mayor's Small Business Award in 1999.
Quiring Monuments is also the only Northwest member of the American
Institute of Commemorative Art. Membership in AICA is by invitation
only and is conditioned on a company's success in designing the most
meaningful memorialization. We are proud to have been members since
1972.
David says "We are deeply involved today in carrying on the traditions
of high quality and premium service that the Quiring family has taken
pride in for four generations. Our formula for success today is simply:
Great design + Great price + Great service = A Winning combination,
Guaranteed!"
In an effort to continue to raise the bar in our field, Quiring
Monuments continues to increase the amount of education and training
provided throughout the year to each employee and to our dealer
customers through Quiring College. Quiring College provides high
quality, state-of-the-art training that educates not only those new to
the industry but it also offers the seasoned professional a fresh
approach to enable them to offer a final tribute to a family's loved
one. The results of this time spent in training show in every memorial
we produce and in the highest satisfaction for our clients.
